The Texas Gang Investigators Association will be recognizing a judge who has excelled in the prosecution of gang members. Nominees for the Ted Poe "Damn Good Judge" award do not have be a member of the Texas Gang Investigators Association.

Five law enforcement professionals that have excelled in gang investigations or gang intervention / prevention over the past year will also be recognized. Categories for Officer of the Year include:

• Two (2) Licensed Peace Officer of the Year
• One (1) Prosecuting Attorney of the Year
• One (1) Probation / Parole Officer of the Year
• One (1) Corrections / Jail Officer of the Year

Nominees, except for the nominee for the "Damn Good Judge" and "Prosecutor of the Year" awards, must be a current member in good standing of the Texas Gang Investigators Association.

Nominations for these awards must include the completed nomination form, plus any biographical information pertinent to the nominees job, family background, and a summary of his / her outstanding accomplishments / performance in the field of gang investigations, gang intervention or gang prevention. All nominations MUST be typewritten / computer printed

All nominations must be postmarked by Thursday, May 15, 2008.
