The Texas Gang Investigators Association was founded in 1991 by a small group of officers charged with the investigation of street gangs and
their criminal activities.
Today, membership in the TGIA numbers over 1,490 members from across the state and the U.S. The TGIA strives to provide training
opportunities for its members through regional meetings, quarterly newsletters and its annual training conference.
The TGIA was formed to promote a closer working relationship among gang
investigators with a view towards the rapid dissemination and exchange of information concerning gang related incidents, suspects and investigations.
The TGIA encourages and supports legislation that would tend to decrease or curb
the occurrence of gang related crimes or to aid and assist the judiciary and related agencies in the adjudication of gang defendants.
We solicit the support of the public that they themselves might be better protected
and educated in their awareness of and prevention of gang related crimes and activity and attempt to allay any fears caused by the spread of false "urban legends".
